dear mr. richter,
being exclusively an electronic music hobbyist, i know i am extremely "band-limited" on money i can spend on my synth. possibly, a lot of other folks are in the same situation ! i know i`m scavenging around trying to put together an extra $90 before mid-july to buy one of your joystick units. so far, as add-on modules go, yours is the only one i`ve seen currently available that includes a ( to me, all important ) gate/trigger button and jack. the units from analogue systems and doepfer do not have this (to me ) vital feature !!!!! they apparently concieve of the joystick as an augmentation to a keyboard or other controller. to me, as a non-kybd`ist, i see it as a replacement controller and the ability to do something as simple as trigger events while modifying the x / y voltages is important to me!
( off topic but somewhat related - i`ve been after the doepfer folks to release their "nintendo controller" module as i think it would be a wonderful module for "conducting" events from a modular but reaction on their newsgroup was mediocre at best, no one seemed to get as excited as i am/was about this novel control device. back to joysticks, i asked doefer about a gate button/jack on their joystick and was told i was the first person to even ask about such a thing ! )
anyway, i just wanted to try and encourage you that vis-a-vis your joysticks, it may not be a lack of interest but rather a lack of available funding ! ( and on the funding issue, an example - when you introduced the frac-rack modules originally, i looked at joystick and miniwave and said "cool! " but they were discontinued before i could organise the money. later ended up getting miniwave through blacet to add to my synth )
anyway, thanks for listening to my ramblings...........
best,
dave
. We
will take orders until the third week in July. And build them the
last week in July. At this point, I think I have 6 orders, so even this
is not a big volume seller. People seem to want Joysticks in
theory, they just don't seem to actually buy them in practice ;^)
