Thanks for the quick reply.

On average, how deep are the Wiard modules? Is it a matter of an inch
clearance, or more? If it's a "close, but not quite" there may be
some workarounds that I can do.

Yeah, I wanted to avoid that (obviously). I'm looking at
supplementing my current system with a few other modules before a
series of live shows later this year, and I don't want to add too much
extra volume to the amount of gear I'm planning to haul around.

Unfortunately, no. I'm pretty sure that there's
only one modular line that will fit into the
pop-up cases.

The largest "shallow" SKB case is 4U high.
Wiard modules are 5U high, so whether or not
the case is deep enough is immaterial. The
modules are too tall to fit.

I have my Wiard system in a standard SKB case,
which leaves a large amount of empty space
behind the modules.

Actually 2 systems (at least). The Synthesis Technology MOTM was designed
to fit into these cases (and it works great). Serge also fits with some
*very* slight modifications to the rack rails.

I've seen photographs of both Serge and MOTM modules in SKB pop-up
cases. Buchla modules are quite shallow, also. I would suspect that
all the 3U Euro-rack formatted systems fit in as well.

Wiard modules are 6U high, not 5U. BTW I've never heard of a case
with an odd U number (would be very nice if they existed, though).

Until you have the exacting measurements for depth, you could use
this rear view of rackmounted Wiard at Michael Firman's website:

Thermodyne cases are a reasonable alternative with many more options
than SKB, from light and slim travel briefcases to more bulky, but
extremely resilient mil-spec cases. They will make custom fitted
innards (rackrails, shape-fitted foam padding etc) also.

Wiard system depth, height

2002-06-06 by Mike Fisher

Depth of the Wiard system (not including knobs on the front panel) is
approximately 9 3/4", with about another 1.5"-2" needed for the power
DIN connectors on the back. At least that's how it is on my system.

Height is 10.5", which is 6 rack spaces. Another 2 spaces for the
joystick controller, but that's presumably a moot point since it's
apparently not part of the standard system anymore.
