the electronic visualization laboratory has been around since the 70's. as a
student of the art inst. of chicago at the time, i was peripherally
involved via Dan Sandin's ubiquitous Image Processor (IP). as i recall,
Dan's "Computer Science" partner, Tom DeFanti, started a little ACM group
called SIGGRAPH. i know from personal communication that Dan is still there.
I never met Tom, and so have not kept up with the man who is responsible
for, among other things, the GRASS graphics programming language. but i know
at least Dan is keeping a dream alive, and making that dream available to an
audience that still listens.

just a little noise from an old timer who is happy that they were there to
teach me a few things.
