New Controller Hints

New Controller Hints

2008-09-01 by Mark Griffiths

My new controller has arrived today (thanks Grant!).

I can't see any manual online and to save Grant the need can anyone answer a few quick questions?

1. I assumed all would be "outs" but there is "X in" and "Y in"..they are for?

2. What are dome and edge?

3. I assume "polarity" inverts the CV?

Happy labor day to the US contingent!

regards, Mark

These are inputs to each JAG (the joysticks are normalled to these
but can be interrupted) so you can use an external source to drive
the JAG such as the outputs from LFOs, Noise Rings, WoggleBug, etc.

> 2. What are dome and edge?

These are "group" outputs: the dome voltage is determined by X/Y
proximity to the center of the intersecting zones (with the maximum
voltage determined by the "dome height" pot) while the edge voltage
is determined by proximity to ANY outside edge.

> 3. I assume "polarity" inverts the CV?

No. It actually determines whether the JAG treats the incoming X/Y
voltages as unipolar (0-10v such as a joystick) or bipolar (-5v to
+5v such as the Borg LFOs, which actually output a range of -4v to
+4v if I'm not mistaken).

Hope this helps!

Chris

I really need to remember where I put that. If you look in the "photos" section there are
color coded 3D plots of the functions.

The Joysticks are normalized to the JAG inputs. Xin and Yin are the JAG inputs which defeat
the Joystick outputs.

Dome is high in the middle and zeroish at any edge. Edge is 5 volts in the middle, high at
each side and zero at the corners.

Polarity switches the inputs ONLY from 0-10 for controllers to +/-5 for modulators (LFOS)
