Re: quality & customer servic

Re: quality & customer servic

2008-07-13 by Grant Richter

I am selling about one 1200 series per month, it only takes a week to build six 1200
series modules so some deliveries go stretched to 3 or 4 months, but I communicated with
everyone and no one was upset.

If you order a highly customized piece of equipment, then delivery time is whatever it
takes to complete the engineering and custom test procedures. The one-off Waveform
City with Mini-Wave expander board took 12 months to deliver, and the customer was not
upset.

Again, if this is a report of an actual SNAFU, please tell me where, when, what and who and
I will make certain it never happens again.

I don't want to diminish peoples enthusiasm about their music, and that requires
delivering as quickly as practical. I have worked extremely hard to do this. The 500 people
who got 1200 series modules in 4 weeks or less during full production can attest to this.

customs. So it would seem like my wait was a few months only. Actually I've also had
a 6 module system here for a while from last summer's order.

I've held off in the expectation someone else will hop on this. I ordered my wogglebug something like 15 months ago and it arrived late summer last year. Not sure what's happened here. I suggest phoning Grant?

I think Grant needs to get a helper monkey to help with that 20 month wait.

At first glance this looks like "fuzzy math," as the build rate is 24
times faster than the selling rate. I assume, therefore, that modules
are built in 6-module groups, and the "stretch" is due to waiting for
5 or 6 orders to stack up for each module. Yes?

When I ordered my Wogglebug it arrived actually under the given
estimate. My most recent order of replacement pots was reasonably fast
and I find that I can almost always reach Grant.

Like I said, the few people who are unhappy are either not accustomed
to dealing with independent musical instrument builders and designers.
I have many one of a kind acoustic, electronic, electro-acoustic, etc
instruments and dealing with each artist is different. Grant is pretty
easy compared to some other folks of his special ilk.

Hey Damon,

How about you *phone* Grant and not air your dirty laundry on this list?
From what everyone's saying it seems you are a corner case...

hopefully this will be resolved for you quickly. Grant's been great
for me, and as soon as i have the cash I'm ordering a dual Borg2

I ordered my woggle two years, 1 month ago, and still no delivery. I
also got put off for 20 months (in 3 month blocks or so) to ship in a
couple of modules for maintenance I was willing to pay (highly) for,
and work which Grant recommended himself ("you've got what seems to
be last original, unrepaired omni and it does really need some work"
he said). Right now I'm out the money for a woggle and three modules
don't do what they should.

How's that for pointing it out, Grant?

Untrue. My closest friends are instrument designers, I work
constantly with Cynthia, Harvestman, Mike Brown (*prays for quick
recovery for mike*). Don Buchla, too, who has been faster on repairs
than Grant by many fold (for my personal experience).
