A note about the Wogglebug #3 PCBs

A note about the Wogglebug #3 PCBs

2008-04-13 by Grant Richter

I bought a couple of the so-called Euro-woggle PCBs to check them.

Jan was nice enough to offer me a set for free, but I felt that purchasing them like anyone
else was the right thing to do.

There is nothing wrong with them as shipped.

I was disturbed when I realized that the #3 design lacks most of the "magic" that is in the #5
design shipped in the 300 series.

So while they are a fun module, they don't really represent the full abilities of the "mature"
Wogglebug design.

I just wanted to make clear that $44 worth of PCBs do not replace a true Wogglebug module.

wow. that wogglebug #5 must posses some powerful mojo, Grant! I find
the #3 quite magickal as is.

The PCB they are shipping is a hybrid design.

Some of the design work on that PCB was not done by me.

The changes on the PCB are good, but the #5 (current production model) is a whole six
more months of tweaking the circuit design to center in on the "sweet spots".

It is quite easy to make chaotic circuits. It takes more work to determine which "attractors"
are, well, attractive (ha,ha, sorry).
