Boogie Nights!

Boogie Nights!

2005-02-03 by drmabuce

Wowee!
HAPPY IMBOLC everyone! and what a festival of lights it was here at
Mabuse Manor. My Boggie Filter arrived.
They say that first impressions are hard to erase... If so, then
Elliot Spitzer will have to link this thing to Abu Ghraib, Karl Rove
AND the Nixon administration to disappoint me!
(There is a bit of a party going on here so this will have to be short)
...it's phat... we all knew it would be phat...but what blew my
begonias right off the windowsill is that its FAST. Not just fast for
a vactrol but FAST!!! i was hitting it with some pulses that are
completely INVISIBLE to the Borg CV inputs and it was still honkin'
like a goose on fire!
A giant tip of the wogglebug fez to ya, professor! you've really
outdone yourself this time!
We'll put an extra candle in the window for ya tonight!

CHEERS!

All this talk about the sound is nice, but the real question is....
Did you get the blue on eor the black one? And if the blue one, what
knob does Grant use in place of the big one he used on the black one?

:P

mark

PS. I heard the original "Boog" filter way back in the prototype stage
and loved it's sound.

LOL!
oh boy are you askin' the WRONG guy
;'>
Grant has to twist my arm get me to take delivery of his gadgets with
ANY panel on 'em at all! Make no mistake DIY is sickness, a
brain-chemistry defect that progresses with age. With that said, very
often, the first thing i do when i get a wiard is unhook the panel and
cram the PCB into some balsa wood and chicken-wire assemblage that i'm
currently 'working on'.
BUT
;'>
in this case i told Grant to ship mine behind whatever panel made it
easier on him... in this case, it's black with white legends and a
regular old big Knob. Sorry to disappoint... but to me, All wiards are
GREEN and made of fiberglass!

now, back to work!

Re: Boogie Nights!

Yes I received mine as well (it's a black panel with a big Moog-like knob -
FYI verbos2002). It is very un-Borg-like (though vactrol non-the-less). It's
easy to make it sound like my Mini-Moog filter (good thing? yea I guess
so). And, as the doctor states, is fast as holy 'ell. The resonance is really
sonic (for lack of a better term). I haven't experimented too much with mixing
the outputs (nor have I played with the phase inversion jumper), but this
will happen. Very nice work Grant, and the etched panel graphics look very
smart indeed.
