It would be great if you could use plastic for faceplates, because they look so cool and the colors are very intense. Plastic dosen't have any shielding abilities, so you would need to have metal behind it. Printed circuit board material could have a shield layer on one side and touch switches on the front. That would be more practical. PC board material is fiberglass rather than plexiglass.
