Speaking in generalities, electronic circuits tend to be interdependent like eco-systems. You can't just swap out the Whooping Cranes for Snapping Turtles without creating a whole cascade of downstream consequences. Vactrols are especially finicky about their support circuitry and sometimes vary wildly from one unit to another -with the same part number- ! i've never seen the versions of any of the production Borg schematics but i'd take an educated guess that they differ significantly , at least in the LED-element driver sections. i've learned the hard way that mods are never simple .... especially the simple ones! ;'> -doc
