When i was researching a paper on neural nets i had to digest a lot of
work done in biology & neurology. i found and cited a study that
investigated the evolution of nerve bundles. The experiments compared
the performance of tangles of nerve fibers to the performance of the
fibers when they were 'straightened out' (laid parallel).... and the
tangles always performed better (faster and more accurately) Some of
the cause was shown to be 'crosstalk' but even when they took steps to
eliminate the crosstalk the tangles STILL performed better.
