Hi all,
Let me be clear:
Grant put me up to this. Blame him. I posted 4 mp3's of wogglebug
sourced sound in the "files" section. Only one of them "Bugs1" is
intended as a composition in any way at all. The rest are "educated
demos". All of the material is the very essence of the term "thrown
together". Sorry for all the disclaimers but I'm notorious (with my
band) for revising a piece of music for YEARS before releasing it. And
THEN releasing re-works of it for another decade.
In detail:
Bugs1-stereo
Bugs1 is a composition. there is some DSP (a Renaissance sim-plate
reverb). The piece begins with a simple square-wave motif. The rhythm
& pitch patterns are purely determined by the bug. This one my
favorite of it's tricks. There are some sections that are produced by
a "stinkbug" accessory circuit that I added to Grant's #3 standard
circuit . It's basically a frequency divider driven by the Wbug
output, processed by a variable cutoff & Q, twin-T, filter that
originated with John Simonton and controlled by the Wbugs CV outputs.
All of the sounds in this piece originate in the Wbug. This was a
"hands-off" piece. All changes were cretated with control voltage
modulations.
Wogglebugdemo-stereo
As the title implies, this is an expo of 2 of the Wbugs audio
outputs the outputs are panned hard-left/ hard-right. On the left is
the "ring modulated" or XOR'd output. On the right, is one of the
"plain" square-wave outputs. This was not a hands-off piece. All of
the sounds originate with the wogglebug. There is no DSP in the mix.
Bug cv+a -mono
This is a little blurb that illustrates the bug's CV outputs. The
droning sound is 3 Arp 2600 osc's into a stock 2600 filter. The bugs
CV is controlling the cutoff. The piece crossfades (via mixolator)
into a bug-CV-controlled Aries bandpass filter, filtering the bug 's
own XOR'd audio output, and the cross fades back to the Arp. There is
no DSP in the mix.
Bug cv+bug -mono
Is the bug's CV output modulating an Aries lowpass filter
processing the bug's own XOR'd audio output. There is no DSP in the
mix.
Got all that!!!????
Ok
so if you have questions please email me and I'll gladly use
different overly jargonistic and convoluted language to describe
simple patches!
I Hope this dispels (or exacerbates) any wild rumors about what a
wogglebug does.
