akai cdrom drive HS

hello all
i would like to buy an akai cd3000 but the cdrom dirve is out of order
i would like to know if it is possible to replace it by another one
if someone have some reference of cdrom drive that working in the akai cd3000 that will be helpfull for me

Hi,

Here’s a page on the Akai CD-ROMs


I’ve installed the Plextor models in mine. One piece of advice though. If you care about sampling audio from the CD drive into the unit, only use the exact model that is in the Akai. I tried other models (and even made the right cables for them), but they can’t be controlled properly from the sampler.

nope its a special drive just for akai cd3000

the cd3000xl uses a standard 5.25" drive

i have a spare cd3000 in stock with full ram and the cdrom works

Ah thanks good point - I have installed CDROMs into my XL model not the original.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
