Prophet 600 out of tune?

Prophet 600 out of tune?

2002-03-26 by Brian Andrew Marek

Okay, so I got the Prophet 600 working (changed out the Z-80 - easy!),
but now I'm finding another problem. Apparently one or more of the
oscillators are out of tune, even after doing the auto-tune thingie on
the board. What could be causing this, and how would one remedy it?

Thanks

BaM

Perhaps the capacitors associated with an oscillator's pitch have gone bad.
Replace 'em on one oscillator and see if that helps.

I had a really odd pitch problem on one VCO of a Prophet-600: for some
strange reason a 42.2K resistor decided it would be a 30K resistor. It
was not physically broken, and still measured 30K after removal.
Installing a new resistor fixed things. If I recall, the resistor was in
series with the scale trimpot.
