Korg Polysix question

Korg Polysix question

2007-10-29 by ianjameshicks

Hi,

I have a polysix that suffered the battery problem, it has been fixed
and sounds great but after the last time I took it to the tech, I've
noticed that the PW/PWM pot isnt working at all. I'd take it back to
the tech but I've since moved from the area. I've downloaded the
schematics and thought that I'd take a crack at it myself.. I just
wanted to know if anyone has any tips about this specific problem, any
ideas of what could be wrong or any good starting places?

Thanks,
Ian

Hi Ian,

Is the pot soldered to some main board assby with other controls?
And, do you have any pics of the area where the pot is?

Se on the schematics which IC is directly connected with the
problematic pot and replace it.

A good starting point is : resolder the points where the pot is soldered into the circuit board assby. Then find the next components in the ckt that the pot circuit is connected to;;;Resolder those too.

Solder joints age. Sometimes the Mfg doesnt put enough solder or it can also be "cold-soldered" where it "appears" soldered/connected in but it AINT.
Also, if the schematic shows some voltage points in the circuit you're checking, then check to see if the points agree with the schematic.
