Roland TB303 Save The Presets....

Roland TB303 Save The Presets....

2003-05-03 by Alexandre

Hi,

I own a Roland Tb303. Analogue Solution make a mod :

    * Lithium battery for at least ten years battery backup, so there is no
need to install C-cell batteries.

Does anybody know how to make this mod? I will be very happy to know how to
make this mod... It would be heaven if my Bass Line could save the presets
when I switch it off...

Let me know.....

Best Regards !

@lexandre

hi alexandre,
i have a tb303 too. i've had it for awhile, but just started using it recently.
it does save the presets with c batteries, however, i have managed to corrupt
some sequences. that was before i knew you shouldn't switch modes while your
sequence is going. it can result in a randomly programmed sequence. i've also
been syncing it with a modified emu drumulator, which i think adds an element
of instability. anyway , i don't really have an answer for you, but you should
try the x0x yahoogroup.
good luck!,

Hi Shayne,

I know that when you put c-cell batteries in the Bassline Line the presets
are safe. The big problem is that C-cell batteries could produce an acid
liquide who could burn the inside.....

This is the reason why a mod is available to replace the c-cell by a lithium
batterie : more safety...

Thx for your help,

Regards

Alexandre

hey, i just put a lithium battery (similar to aa size) in the battery
hole with alligator clips on the 303 contacts i think it was 4.5 v.
with little rods soldered to the battery contacts. its ok for backup
but maybe wont run the synth for very long (if at all, i never
tried!). anyway it hasnt lost any memory since :) cost $10 australian

yea just go to something like a jaycar shop i dunno what you call
them or where you are but i think it was advertised as a clock
battery or something...its good cos its not actually a mod you can
just pull it out anytime...only bumma is if you wanna use the 303
with batteries. on the positive contact of the 303 you might have to
get creative too...while youve got the cover of ya might as well open
it and tweak some of the variable paramaters on ya 303 (i would
suggest marking the original position tho!)
happy memories!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!! As they say, the most brilliant ideas are the
simple ones!! That is the best 303 idea that Ive heard in a long time, and it
couldn't come at a better time!!! (sure wish there was an equally easy way to
magically make all of my lost sequences reappear!! hehe)
Now, I will truly be in paradise if there were an equally ingenious way to
reliably synch my 303 to Cubase w/o having to modify my 303.

To bad a software program couldn't be coded up to emulate a din sync signal
"disguised" as code from a computer based sequencing application thru the
computers midi out/patchbay to the din synch in on a 303.... (or any other din
synch instrument). Just fantasizing for a moment.

Anyhow regarding the lithium tip....Thanx!!!!
