hey, i just put a lithium battery (similar to aa size) in the battery 
hole with alligator clips on the 303 contacts i think it was 4.5 v. 
with little rods soldered to the battery contacts. its ok for backup 
but maybe wont run the synth for very long (if at all, i never 
tried!). anyway it hasnt lost any memory since :) cost $10 australian
