RE: [vintagesynthrepair] Re: Kurzweil K2500R "please wait..." issue, complete service manual sought

Thanks for the tip.

My instrument gets past the ‘Please wait…’ and I can hear the hard drive attempting to initialize but pressing EXIT doesn’t get me to the diagnostics as expected. Some There are other signs of life, and buttons are responding but the display is stuck at “…waking up scanner.”

I presume this means the scanner board is not talking to the motherboard. I want to be sure the scanner / audio board has all the right voltages before I go any further. I have a replacement set of PLD chips should that be the root cause but I’m not planning on risking them until I verify the basics.

That said, I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who has successfully fixed the same problem?

To get to the "please wait" message would require a stable power supply. Hit EXIT when you get to that message and enter the diagnostics.

Hi Daniel,

I'm dealing with the same issue on a Kurzweil K2500. I suspect it's power supply and want to ensure that the correct components are in place and that all the voltages are good. If you could share the manual and schematics with me too, I'd be very grateful. I notice you are quite active on the Korg MS2000 group as well, I've posted a bit about DSP repairs on that.

If the power supply is the same as the K2000 then it will be simple enough to get that info.

Sometimes thought the devil is in the detail and if there are upgrades to handle more current then the correct schematic and service manual would be critical.

Thank you...!
