Re: [vintagesynthrepair] Roland D-5 Issues

2013-06-14 by Roger J

I did a D5 recently. Roland US has no replacement buttons. The real issue is the switches under the button, called tac switches, short for tactile. They are available from Roland or other sources. When they fail to make good contact, pressing harder makes them work, but damages the plastic hing buttons. I would recommend that you replace them all, they cost 25 cents each or less. Try Roland in Europe, as sometimes they have things not available here.

I have a brother in law who is an electronics tech. Can we open this thing up and replace the patch buttons? Can we rig them?
