Hi Jim,
A few years ago I had a D6 and had the same
problem, as I recall I used a combinaton of soldering iron and hot air gun
to soften the epoxy near the break, then solder a new joint.
I actually attached an external wire to each
visible join with the plan to have an idividual feed from each section, for
improved filtering, but I did not follow it through and left is stock
instead.
