Re: [vintagesynthrepair] Kurzweil K5000R with no battery compartment!

Just buy a small AA holder from an parts shop and mount it inside, and open the machine up when the batteries need changing. sounds like the battery tube has snapped off at some stage.

Subject: [vintagesynthrepair] Kurzweil K5000R with no battery compartment!

This is wierd, and I hope maybe someone out there has someidea of this. I have a Kurzweil K5000R which I knew needed an internal battery when I bought it. It works great but I'm not able to save any disks to RAM. That would be expected, right? Ok. Now, see...I knew this needed and internal battery when I bought it and I figured that eventually I'd just replace the battery when I got around to it. So I got around to it. Supposedly the K2000R takes just AA's! It has a little coin-sized battery door on the back which I removed. There sat a AA battery, but it was sitting kind of wierd and loosely. I tried to shimmy it out and it just fell deeper inside. I got a flashlight and found that there was really no battery compartmnent inside that little door at all! I looked inside and I just saw the raw guts of my K2000: Circuit boards, wires, etc. So what happened to the battery compartment which is supposed to be there to hold the battery? Could or WOULD someone
just remove it? Apparently someone tried innocently replacing the batteries not knowoing that the compartment wasn't there, hence the loose AA just sitting in there rolling around.

Can anyone out there fathom what's going on with this?
Does anyone out there have a K2000R which isn't missing this crucial component? I am able to play it without batteries and it sounds great, but it lacks some memory functions because of it.

Help, please! 8-]
