Successful floppy disk rpelacement: Samsung SFD-321D

Hello list, This is another one for the archives: I have successfully replaced the original Sony MP-F53W-00D floppy drive in my Prophet 2002+ with a Samsung SFD-321D drive, and I'm seeing substantially more reliable data transfer as a result. The Samsung drive came from an old Atari 520ST that I had kicking around (not grunty enough to run the Steinberg Soundworks for Prophet 2000 software, unfortunately). I just pulled out the drive and stuck it in the Prophet; there's only one jumper which says "DS0/DS1", and I just left that on "DS0". And it worked! I don't think the Samsung was original equipment in the Atari, either; it had "$1" written on the back in vivid marker. ;) I've mainly been using a large stack of about 50 double-density disks that were someone's collection of cover disks from "ST Format" magazine; these seem to be pretty good (on the new drive). The few high-density disks I've tried don't seem to work quite as well. Cheers, John :^P -- John Pallister john@...
