hi shawn, no, it works off the lcd power which is on the muli-wired cable that plugs into the verticle pins, NOT the lcd backlight power (unused on the vfd- remove that cable) I was kinda afraid to post how I modded my 440 to have the VFD.... Although it LOOKS AMAZING! i did have to use a hacksaw (you could do it with a dremel) to widen up the stand-off area on the display board to allow the 440's original stand-offs to fit. I'm definately going to have to post a photo. I basically cut two plastic strips from a seedling planter tray, and constructed straps with holes for the stand-offs and strapped the display in place, and tightened down all the way! it was very crafty, looks clean -- but that part about the hacksaw is a little sketchy-- photos uploaded in a few mins, showing the inside! later, ben .. --- In prophet2000@yahoogroups.com, "shawnrudiman" <shawnrudiman@...> wrote: > > ben, > > im wondering when you did yours did you use the 3 lead (power???) > connection on the vfd? i know the lcd had a special power lead just > for it, but im not sure if the vfd uses the same thing or what exactly > is the set up for it. the vfd (power? i assume???) jack has 3 tiny > poles. the 440 lcd had 2 . do these get connected and if so whats the > pin layout for them?? > > thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!! > > shawn rudiman > > > > hi, > > > > im not the guy from the matrixsynth post, but I'm also doing this mod. > > I ordered the vfd from Noritake.com.... they were very nice, I filled > > out a pdf and they shipped it like 3 days ago....
