Tuning issue

Tuning issue

2018-06-10 by jamiepaterson@hotmail.com

Hi guys, new to the group and still trying to navigate my way around...

I've done a search, but couldn't find an answer to my problem, so apologies if it's been dealt with before.

I had the kiwisix mod installed last year and then it went into storage.

Now it's out of storage and I'm trying to fix the tuning.

I can get all the voices in tune with each other, and the scaling spot on across the octaves.

However, it's 5 semitones out, so that C6 = F6, C2 = F2, etc.

No matter what I do, I can't reach the right notes with the trims.

Is this an issue with the PC1 opto? Or am I missing something else?

Any help massively appreciated!

Thanks

I hate to state the obvious, but don’t forget that the Polysix has a mod wheel without a spring. You need to make sure it is centered. Also make sure the Tune knob is centered. A bad opto usually only causes problems with upper octave scaling from what I have seen. Trimmer VR15 Tune Mid is the only thing you should touch to adjust the entire thing up or down. Anything else will just mess up the scaling.

Thanks for the quick reply Don!

That was my initial thought so I double checked the position of both the pitch wheel and the master tune knob, and both were centred.

My Polysix is an old model with the KLM-366A daughter board. There is no VR15, and I'm lead to believe the VR1 on the daughter board is the equivalent. However, slight adjustments to that throw the scaling way out.

Is there another trimmer on the old models that adjusts the master tune?

Thanks!
