3.9v Zener in Jeds board

3.9v Zener in Jeds board

2013-01-25 by raisinbag69

Hi, I am rebuilding a 367 board I got from Jed, and stuffing it right now. Going off his BOM it calls for a 3.9v Zener, specifically a BZX79-C3V9. I have a bunch of 1N5228b 3.9v zeners in hand, can anybody tell me if they will work the same? I looked at Data sheets to compare, but am not fully understanding, due to my lack of Zener knowledge.

Cheers, Dave

Any Zener of the correct voltage and the same or larger wattage will
work. The one in the board looks to be 1/2W or less so use a 1/2W or
greater replacement. I have a few boards left over from fitting Kiwisix
upgrades if you want an original.

GREAT! Thanks. It's a pain to have to order one part, when you have everything else on hand.

Holy crap, I just read about the Kiwisix, I hadn't heard of that before, way cool. Midi is something I want to implement into my P6 at some point. So you have fully loaded boards that you pulled?

I have two boards I could part with. One is pictured on the web page and
the other is in similar condition. One is from an 'Early Production'
model and the other a later model. As far as I know nether work but I
have not turned them on so I do not know for sure. Both are complete and
still have the original leaking batteries on (which I can remove).
