Polysix effects doesn't work

Polysix effects doesn't work

2011-01-02 by radek

I have another Polysix that had battery leak problem. I've managed to fix broken traces etc.

The last thing which doesn't work are effects. When i switch it to chorus/phaser there is no effect. speed knob doesn't react. when i switch effect to ensemble i can hear it but intensity also is dead.

what can be the reason?

Hi,

Check the output of IC34 at the following pins:

10 - chorus
1 phase
11 ensemble

I believe these should go high went the effect is selected. If there seems
to be a switching action at the these pins check to see if the voltage at
IC16 pin 1 varies as you change the speed knob. Report back with your
results!

Cheers,
Andy

Hi there!

pin 1, 10 and 11 went high. also voltage on pin 1 of ic16 changed when i was turning speed knob.

Hi Radek,

Seems that the KLM-367 is not the issue. BTW the intensity voltage should
vary from 5V (0) to +5v (10). Next turn to the KLM-368 and check the switch
input buffer op-amps (IC23) and then the quad bilateral switch IC14. One
thing to note. I have had various NE571 compander chips fail on these board
before which cause numerous and amusing effects of there own!

Let us know how you get on.

Cheers,
Andy

hmmm.... intensity wasn't vary'ing when i was checking pin 1. when it was on 0 it was 0.5 v when it was set on 10 voltage was 0.01 v or sth like that...

Make sure the op-amp that is buffering the output of the mux is still
behaving like a an op-amp! Also, do make sure you are in ŒManual¹ mode
before measuring these voltages....

Cheers,
A

I've exchanged those 2 ic's on effects board [4066 and lm324n] but effects still are not working :(

Try to swap out IC13, an op-amp that seem to be common for chorus and phaser modes output before the SK30-transistor.
