Programmer problem

Programmer problem

2011-04-11 by hardcorekid711

The programmer on my Polysix sometimes "drops" the current program and switches to a completely different sound while I'm playing it. The new sound sometimes sounds like all the knobs were twisted to dramatically different positions. More frequently, the sound just disappears, as if someone turned the synth off. I can return to the original sound by hitting the number button again, but within a few seconds the program switches as described above. When this starts happening the synth becomes pretty much unusable.

I haven't noticed this happening due to anything specific. Sometimes it takes 2 hours of playing for this to occur, other times it starts doing it within minutes or even immediately.

The synth was recently refurbished by Tone Tweakers, which included a battery replacement. Does anyone know what's going on here, and how fix it?

Could be a loose connection by the sounds of it. Open it up and make sure all cables are plugged in properly / unplug, check pins, replug. TT could have damaged a pin or a connector could have worked loose. If no joy with that then start looking at more serious issues (for which TT should be involved I assume?)

Could also be an issue associated with C23 on KLM-367...if it was fitted with the clone. A few of my boards experienced erratic behaviour (like randomly changing patches) and the problem was resolved by switching C23 from 22pF to 10pF.

Quote from Andy concerning my issue with program instability:
2. The instability problem was trace finally to C23 being the wrong value. If you make this capacitor a 10pF ceramic disk (like C22) then any instability should disappear.

good luck!!!

Arturo.....
