Tuning problem becomes more problems

Tuning problem becomes more problems

2006-06-27 by Mike Thompson

Ugh.. ok. I re-tuned the oscillators today, but I was noticing the other day that the
patches all are messed up, have max. release time and are distorted. WTF?? So I retuned
everything, and it seems a little better but do I need to have factory patches reloaded?
They were loaded previously by the tech who replaced my KLM board. What should I do?

I have isolated the problem to the MG section - the patches will not hold in memory (new
board, new battery) correctly; when the patch is first heard it has distortion and long
release, which can be changed by turning off the level in the mod section (causing most of
the problem). This was the same problem I had prior to the battery issue which was fixed.
The tuning issue seems to have subsided. Can anyone figure out what may be going
wrong here? The patches will not hold the MG settings though either, or the release...

Ive seen this problem your having before. The way to fix this is to take apart the 3 pots in the MG section and clean them. The problem is that the contact area in the pot itself is dirty and has worn a constant track, alowing voltage to skip across it with out and proper control. somtimes you have to take apart the MG wheel and clean its pot as well as this can also cause this problem. I hope this helps. Nick.
