bank, patch flakiness?

bank, patch flakiness?

2006-06-03 by gregory zifcak

hi,
i am working on a polysix that is sometimes perfectly functional for long stretches, but
randomly exhibits a weird problem. it seems to have nothing to do with how long it's been
on. basically, the bank d button and patch 4 button start to come on and the patch starts
to deteriorate, turning on vco modulation, pwm, etc, and doesn't want to save patterns
correctly. it's always d and 4. the battery has recently been replaced with a new one, and
some minor corrosion damaged was repaired. sometimes the synth behaves normally, and
has no problem saving and recalling patches.
any ideas?
thanks,
greg

that's really interesting, i have a similar problem - bank D and patch 4.
but i'm not sure about the patch degradation... sometimes i DO get the VCO
modulation but i always thought it was the old patches. it could be exactly
the same as your problem.

i changed the leaked battery, i changed both IC30 and IC31, i also changed
IC22 (the CPU) and repaired quite a few broken traces.

cheers,
jure

wow. i'm guessing it's battery corrosion related then, since there's a
better chance of that than of the same thing failing on the actual
button board.
