For those of you who, like me, have wondered about the absence of Jon
Salley from these groups, a little sleuthing by Martin Smith seems to have
turned up the unfortunate answer...

Jon E. Salley
    *   BORN: March 10, 1954
    *   DIED: May 14, 2010
    *   LOCATION: KS
Sadly Jon has left us. I recall that he was sick, but never considered the
possibility that he had died. I figured he got tired or bored. I for one
will miss him terribly. I can remember any number of great and amusing off
list exchanges over the years. He was one of my very first friends when I
joined the Mellotronists list many years back and he was a very funny guy. and
also very  talented.

Jon had been working on a new project, Tintagel. He has a web site, but it
doesn't look like he ever completed it. He also has his personal and
Tintagel Myspace pages. Go listen to his music. Pretty damn good.

Actually, I wondered why he wasn't on the list. Martin pointed out this sad
 truth.

I'm so sorry to hear the news.I really didn't know Jon but from what you all have said he sounded like a great guy.
I did go to his myspace page and love the Tintagel music.I hope it gets released.

It's a sad day for the group, I think. He contributed a lot. RIP Jon.

Yes Jon's Tinagel material is very, very good. Why I waited until now to give it a proper listen I'll never know.

I sent a message to Jon on April 4th with a link to a recent Rick Wakeman video. Jon replied with "I'm happy he seems to have finally found some peace for himself over the last decade."

It's very sad to hear that Jon has passed. I didn't know him, but it is obvious that he had a great influence on our list. That's good. My best to his family.

Yes, so very sad.
Made even sadder for me, because of the song I'm currently working on for the new album, which is about loss and unfulfilled potential.
Condolences to his family.
We are less for his passing.

Loss is a tough topic - but our feelings are bolstered for the memories
for having had him as a contributor to our lives - sorely missed.
