Sadly Tony Clarke has passed away. JB and myself met up with him for a
few beers some years back and he was a loveable chap. Lots of stories and a
dry wit. Whatever anyone thinks of the Moodies, Tony's production
standards were and still are impressive. He leaves a great body of work.

Best,

Martin

His work certainly played a large part in my turning over to The Dark Side and finally starting to like some of that rock music stuff. The Moodies would have likely just been another band whose musical aspirations far exceeded their reach without him. Thanks for the announcement, Martin, and Tony - thanks for all the wonderful work.

That\u2019s sad.I used to dream of working with that guy in a nice analog studio with a plate reverb. Thanks for the beautiful sounds he left for us to study.

A very sad day... T.C. was one of the best producers ever!

This makes 2 persons from the Threshold family who have left us recently... first Bart Bishop, the lead singer, and chief songwriter of Providence... who passed away suddenly in November, and now Tony Clarke.

I guess heaven needed a great producer. Tony... RIP. You will be greatly missed!

I didn't know that Bart had passed away. I had corresponded with him a
number of times last summer. He was a very nice guy and I really liked
Providence.

Sad news about Tony Clarke, he will be missed.
Aside from his work with the Moodies (group and solo), does anyone know who else he produced?

He ALMOST produced King Crimson, but Fripp and Lake did not like the sound for their band...

I read a short write up on Wiki. It had already been updated with news
of his death. It mentioned he had played bass in a skiffle band in the
late 50's and produced The Four Tops among others.
