I have not heard of any general release for Mellodrama....Dianna has not even sent me a copy of it yet...tho Im expecting to throw up when I see my face in it !!  If you do get to see it, please let me know and tell me when I should close my eyes !!!

No, really, was everybody that mattered interviewed ?

It is showing in my area the last week of June. Looks at least like it had an editing and mastering budget, they are doing traditional publicity. It isn't a student film. I hope it is good and that it helps.

Gino....not sure which Dave you are referring to, but both Dave Kean and I are in the credits, and Dianna did travel here to film me. I havent seen the film yet ....I thought she was gonna send me a copy, but nada. Im not very photogenic, but I was sober, Frank.....well, relatively !! I overlooked Dave's names when cruising the credits. I would expect that Dianna will send you a copy after she finishes the festival circuit and the PR blitz. Right now they are usually walking prints from venue to venue. The promotion thing is a crushing, boring slog. My friend who is a well known journo says that they are doing it right. He9;s seen a bit more than the trailer and is looking foward to seeing the film. So am I. To me this is really an event. I am really glad they included you, that stamps it 'thorough" for me.

My copy arrived today and I spent the afternoon watching it and the extras on the DVD. I think it's pretty well done, but for some reason, it seems incomplete to me...like something's missing.

I finally got a chance to see this movie. Some will like it; I was not  
particularly impressed. It should have been named something else because it  
spent too much time on the Chamberlin (the M1 an obviously great machine) and  
actually very little time on the Mellotron and the bands that made it 
famous. I  also would have liked to see more on the resurrection. 80 minutes is 
not enough  time to properly cover this subject.

Pillory as a composition is a bit shaky, though I certainly love the mellotron "solo".

I finally watched this documentary a couple of days ago. I was disappointed to be honest. It was much more of a history report on the mellotron and less of a documentary (which made it quite boring.) I understand what the "ecstatic truth" was behind the documentary (the mellotron is a prized instrument that is going extinct, digital technology is taking over analog and it's a shame, the mellotron used to be this exclusive thing that was very special and now anyone can/and does put mellotron sounds on their albums with the computer and it's sort of just a trendy thing now, etc.) but they weren't the main focuses of the documentary and they got really caught up with the whole "Well the m-300 differs from the m-400 because the m-400 was smaller, etc, etc, etc" (technical crap that you can find on a wikipedia page...) Also there was BARELY any music. They sampled some Moody Blues and some Genesis and that's about it. Still cool to see guys from a bunch of my favorite bands: Opeth, King Crimson, Änglagård (Mattias Olsson is sort of a strange guy haha), The Zombies, Yes, Genesis, The Moody Blues, etc.

In person, not at all. I think he got a bit duded up for the movie. I spent 
 a few days with him and his band mates a few years ago and Matias came off 
as  just a nice guy who happens to be a complete gear head and a really 
great  musician. He's very easy to talk to and very outgoing. I imagine hours  
of video were condensed down to the few minutes that ended up in that  
movie. I must admit, he does look quite nice in green.

When I met him he seemed ok. Its been a while though. Last thing I heard he is hooked on Pez, the brazilian sedative Demazin and films about swans.

Yeah right! Now you've done it. If I were you I'd go buy copies of every  
other recording he's ever been on. And couldn't you have at least told him
