MKII restoration information and advises

2017-11-10 by davidcasterman@yahoo.fr

Hi everyone,

I create a sale feeler thread for my MKII earlier this week and after a lot of thinking, decided to keep the MKII and sold my M400. Thanks for those who contacted me and told me to keep the holy grail of the Mellotron, you were right!

I’m gonna try to make my mkII live again. It won’t be easy but will try and he’ll probably go to UK for some works.

I have a few questions that only some people here could answer (and on the Mellotron fb where I.ll post the same message even if a lot of users are members of both group)

- Does anyone has schematic for electronical parts of the Mellotron?

- I.ve read that they were mod that could be done to make the mkii more silent, would really appreciate to know more about it.

-I.m looking for all documents, informations that could help me to bring it to life. I know M400 quite well as I had two (still two at home but one will go to Germany soon) but not used of MKII... getting a copy of the service manual would be great and even the simple manual.

I may need some parts and looking for the fabric used to cover the back of the Mellotron (mine doesn’t have the back panel and will need to make one from scratch). It seems that the fabric is unobtainable but if anyone knows where to get some or have some for sale, I’d be more than I teresred. If you have parts for mkii you’d like to sell, may be interested as well.

Hope you’d be able to help me. Thanks a lot

David

Unfortunately Frank can’t help. A really nice person and he was ok helping me with that but all his documents and docs are packed away (and he had so much work that it’s not possible for now what I totally understand.)
But thanks for the info!

If someone knows another people I could contact, please let me know.

Best bet all the way around is Streetly. They have done more restorations than anyone else, whether you send it to them or do the work youself, they will help. Unlike many others they are not jealous and do not covet evey dime that someone would want to expend on a Mellotron.
