Re: A short video

I have posted this video on you tube. It is private so please don't embed
or link to it. It will only be available for a while. I made it as a
progress video for a John Hammaren, for whom I am restoring an M400. Since the
video was shot, I am quite a bit farther along. I will post a few more private
videos as I go.

Really nice Frank! Do you document all of your restorations?
How many have you done over the years?

I document nearly everything. When they pick up their machines my clients
get a CD with hundreds of photos broken down into disassembly and reassembly
of individual components. They also get a special instruction pack that
gives them a specific maintenance routine as well as instructions on how to
keep the keyboard in peak adjustment. Since about 2007 I have also made some
short videos that I send them letting them see where I am in the process.

This is the 35th machine I have worked on.

Looks wonderful Frank, if I could afford it I would ship #1565 off to you tomorrow, as it is I think the M4000D rack will be for me if it ever sees the light of day at a reasonable price.

If you get two of them you would have M4000DDs and that would be an
impressive rack indeed.

I. never thought I would say this BUT if you are going down the rackmount road, get the Memotron version. The sounds come from actual mellotrons, not clean as a whistle master tapes and the layerings, on the fly memory settings so you can store banks, make for one hell of a machine. We have no involvement but having listened I know what WE would choose from versatility and authenticity.

Re: [newmellotrongroup] Re: A short video

2010-12-09 by Mark Pring

Thanks Martin, I never thought you would say that either! I'll certainly look into it, #1565 is working fairly well and sounds pretty good but I know it needs a complete rebuild, the cabinet is badly out of shape and I suspect everything is magnetised or a fire risk. As a back up I have sampled it myself and even my amateur sampling sounds far better than M-tron I think. If I still lived in the UK I would bring it back to you or buy an M4000 but 12,000 miles is too far away from the nearest support.

Cheers

Mark
