The replacement for the  CMC-10 is a normal part of a full upgrade, and the "SM" stands for "servo motor".
It's a lot more useful than the old electronics.
As explained to me the "S" stands for stereo.

  I remember John modified my 400SM a bit because it wasn't put together
  they way Streetly intended., I assume the sm stood for the distributor
  in that case but revs usually refer to hardware upgrades.
