Mellotron in Rap/R&B...

Mellotron in Rap/R&B...

2007-12-19 by Jack Younger

Hey,
I was sitting around the studio last night with
some clients and we were talking on the subject of
Mellotron. We wondered if there was any 'tron used in
any modern rap and R&B. Now I know this question
could be beyond the immediate experience of most of
you, but any thoughts?
-Jack

One modern R&B recording with a dash of Mellotron comes to mind, but
it's irritating crap to my ears, so let's not go there.

Sacrilege!

The only Mellotron that could be on these talentless recordings are the STOLEN (I mean “sampled”) music from real artists that permeate this sorry excuse for music. (Sorry, has my musical bias revealed itself?)

See, there we go. Now that wasn't so hard. Not so
much Rap, but it's a start...
Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating or supporting
any new Rap/R&B material or "artists." Hell, I
couldn't sit through a whole "song" let alone record
the stuff, so your venomous ravings are mispent on me.
Preachin' to the 8-voice choir, Brothers.
It's a simple curiosity and any info would be
appreciated.
Cheers!

Jon Brion producing Kanye West ?

Haven't heard the album but I would be very surprised if there wasn't any chamberlin on it. Mr.West had apparently been very impressed when he messed around with both the chamberlain and Optigon...
