It's an SMS-3. Good board. Have him bring it to me.

Hello everybody!

Long time. I recently had the opportunity to head out to Amherst, MA to
adjust and assess J's mellotron and, being that he is a bit reclusive,
figured I'd share my experience and let folks know where #275. He is not the
type to become too involved in mellotronia so the info may be helpful to those
with the list.

Anyhow, it's an unusual unit that he said he purchased in the 90's from
somebody who worked at Mellotron (Sweden), apparently when they were
beginning to set up shop in Canada, although his memory is fuzzy as to names and
dates. Any help from you folks as to the possibilities of any of this would
be great.

#275 is a hideous thing, brush painted black, with a housing built around
the existing cabinet supporting what appears to be a tool tray. Bench
model? He has two more racks, one with other stock sounds and one he had made
back in the 90's. I believe it has an SMS of some sort. It's pretty buff.
The pics should tell you, but I couldn't get into the machine to see as I
was on a time constraint.

I will say that it is a very stable unit....sweet sounding and despite the
eventual need for pinch rollers and pads, held the adjustments and
remained solidly functional.

I informed him of the need for an overhaul and that it should probably be
removed for this, so folks in the New England area that would be interested
should respond. He isn't looking for anything aesthetic, simple

So let me know if you're curious.

Hope you are all well!
