Just ordered two frames from Martin. The first is: A. MK II Three Violins B. Louise Davies Cello with Vibrato C. Cindy Lee Rule Viola The second is: A. MK II Flute B. M300B Violin C. French Accordion Any thoughts or hoots of laughter regarding my choices?

John, The first frame seems logical to me. Are you getting the MkII Violins tuned? The second frame is interesting. The MkII Flute and M300B should blend well. I've only heard the French Accordion on that old demo video with Eric Robinson. I do like the sound. It's sweeter than the other accordion and should go well with the mellow sounds of the flute and solo violin. Do you already have the M300A Violins? Bernie - yeah - I asked for tuned MK II 3V, as I wanted to be able to use that bum F or F# (forget which one it is as I've had 1407 apart for a while). The second frame I had to think about for a few days, and I narrowed it down from eight or nine candidates, including combined brass, oboe, tenor sax and Ian McDonlad Flute. I definitely was getting the classic flute, as it's still a great and very useful sound (and I want to see the look of comprehension on peoples faces when I play the Strawberry Fields intro for them) . I have always loved the beauty of the M300B, which left me with a toss-up between accordion and tenor sax. When I really started comparing the two in context of the frame, accordion won out. I had some problems with the overall sound of the Italian, so Martin put together a small sample of the French for me, and it's the sound I was hearing in my head when I think accordion. Problem sol-ved. I don't have M300A, but it will among my future acquisitions. john Tron400 wrote:

When someone dies and goes to heaven, they're greeted at the Pearly Gates with, "Welcome to heaven. Here's your harp." However, if you're sent to hell, you'll be told, "Welcome to Hell. Here's your accordion." Q: What's the difference between a chain saw and a tenor sax? A: A neighbour will never ask to borrow your tenor sax. or A: Vibrato. or A: The grip.

Now how about you back this thing out of here before the neighbors get home? I have to ask, btw, does that mean that the official soundtrack to hades is the polka? The second frame voices were also influenced by a recording project I'm in with a friend and I was looking for sounds that would go well with his acoustic (and electric) guitar work. I confess that my tenor sax desire comes mostly from loving the Pinder/Clarke sound on Tuesday Afternoon. I'll save it for a later, more indulgent frame. jb

Tenor sax, because of the heavy vibrato, can be problematic, but it's a pretty good voice for the old days where the recording quality wasn't always the best. Rick
