Not the best picture (phone), but these guys put on a wonderful show... It's so pleasing to see a Mellotron (black) on stage... anywhere!!!! This was Nokia Theatre in NYC this past Saturday...They did "Trick of the Tale"

I don't think it's a real tron. Just a sampler in a fancy wooden box.

BTW, I've seen them a bunch. I'm doing so again on Feb. 13th.

David Myers (MB keyboards) is on record saying he hated playing a real mellotron. Most likely he was refering to one of Pierre Veilleux's properly adjusted M400's. Not everyones cup of tea I guess.

Not a Mellotron. A fake Mellotron. Sampler in a Mellotrony looking cabinet.

I spoke to him last year and he told me that the sample (Kurzweil?) was
just easier to manage. I don't recall him telling me he hated them.

remember the first Genesis tour that came through, it is
like seeing it all over again. I was told that the Tron is
gutted and retrofitted to trigger midi. But the Pro Soloist
is real.
They will be here 2/12 and can't wait. Doug

I remember being lambasted on the old list for saying this some years back,
but the one time I saw 'em (in London), it was the most wooden, lifeless
'gig' I've ever seen. More like a theatrical performance with music tagged
on as an afterthought. The flute parts were clearly mimed, and I wasn't
convinced by the piano. The 'Mellotron' didn't appear to be a real one,
gutted (hopefully), but a Mellotron-shaped box with a controller keyboard
inserted that hung over the ends. The back-projections ('Selling England'
tour) were very nice, though.
