It's done!

It's done!

2010-01-11 by Sean

Anyone else been having problems uploading files? I've tried thrice, at separate times to upload this file which works fine elsewhere, and no luck, always unplayable when upload is done.

Any case, here then is a linky to the tune.

I'm a lot happier this time. If you backtrack to my music page you can also check out the previous version, which is no where near as splendiforous. Quick rundown of sounds...

Flute
M-Tron standing in for: MkII violins, cello, vibraphone, bass accordion, MkII trombone, bassoon.

---

I'm curious about this analysis of LTiA, that album means alot to me musically. I'd probably be able to understand the jibba-jabba, that's what I'm trained to do. I'm a bit wary, I often find that people doing this stuff go beyond a worthwhile understanding of the piece, whatever it is, and go on to how-many-not-quite-relevant-patterns-can-I-find-or-create?

They don't even bother with a disclaimer saying something like "Hey, I'm going well beyond what was relevant because that's how I get off, so yeah."

Good recording Sean. Nice work on the flute. My golden ears tell me that it's a Yamaha. (I'm joking) Don't worry about getting assistance from computers and samplers. Wendy Carlos and Tomita used all the tools available at the time. You can too.

I think you have definitely united disparate musical features within a shared language as opposed to the polystylism of earlier progressive rock!! Polystylism is not good for the environment.

Thank you for your engaging comment Rick. Viewing your message through the lens of Jungian psychology reveals some fascinating symbolism.

I see no connection to the number 5.

It's there, hiding in the slipstream of the allusion to Freudian Stages of Pshychosexual Development I so cleverly inserted when no one was looking...

Based on the current understanding of Freud's theories, people like you would!

More evidence that murder mystery writing is your forte.

Be seeing you!

Great... apparently my music has gone green.. :-\

Hah. Thanks for the listen. I'm not worried about using M-Tron, though I'm sure a few people here and there would. Importantly, those parts are entirely playable on two M400s so it's all good. The computer tool has not been abused.

Very nice indeed, love the flute playing, took me 15 seconds to realize that it was a real flute. The trons sound very good too, but my ears are pretty substandard I can't always tell the difference between a real tron and samples or sometimes a tron and a string synth!

Anyway a very enjoyable piece
