Mellodrama...

2009-12-23 by tronlord927

Howdy Gang... a "Cool Yule, and a Fantastic First" to all!!!

"Mellodrama" will be dropping on DVD in mid- January... you can check on the Mellodrama MySpace site for more details.

Now if we could get an Oscar nod for best documentary of 2009 for Mellodrama... at least one of my Christmas wishes would come true! Is anyone on the Oscar nomination board... or knows someone on the board who can help to get this done?

In other news... Mike Pinder has a 45 minute interview DVD out that I HIGHLY recommend! Lot's of interesting Tron trivia, and Moodies trivia as well!

Speaking of the Moody Blues... the Isle of Wright DVD is excellent... makes a great stocking stuffer!!!

That's it for now... take care!

J.P.

MicroTron001... busy drinking J.P's internationally known homemade egg-nog... WHOOPIE!!!

Hi Troniacs,
Where is this Mellotron DVD available anyway?
If it has been listed in some group emails, then I missed it.
Despite the comments, a bad Mellotron DVD is better than no Mellotron DVD at all!
I'll check around (Amazon etc) and spend some of my pre Daytona 500 time to find and order it.
But if someone would be kind enough to send a link I'd appreciate having it!
Thanks in advance,
Tony

I finally had the chance to watch the Mellodrama DVD.

Although most of us here will not find much we didn't already know, I thought it was quite entertaining for it's length.

Markus has a lot of intelligent information to share and Streetly's absence is certainly felt.

Some minor errors trivia-wise regarding Led Zeppelin using a MK II and all 4 Beatles buying them upon release (only Lennon and B. Epstein did) but still it gives a fairly accurate picture.

Overall it's a great companion piece to Frank's book and Nick Awde's book, and I'd certainly recommend it for the layman who wants a starting point to learn about these machines and the music made with them.

was well done and fun. No major complaints. Of course I'd like more. A
specific chapter on the actual sounds, more Tony Banks, more in depth
information, more Tony Banks, more archive footage of our favorite
Mellotronists like maybe... Tony Banks.

But as a movie about Mellotrons, which let's face it, how much can you
really say about it? It was good. I won't watch it everyday, but I
will watch it again. The whole dvd package is very nice and well done
and compliments my disease nicely. It did make me feel both proud and
foolish, though. I feel like a Trekie or comic book nerd.

Thanks Bernie!
I'm curious about the fuss.
But overlooking our friends at Streetly is unfortunate.

I don't think they were overlooked, I think they were just too busy getting a new product out the door to get involved.

Could be grounds for a new documentary: "Mellodrama II- the battle of the 4000s".

Hey Bruce,

That would fly I suspect.
In my mind it's no contest, an M4000 or M5000 would lastly exceed the Mark VII.
