Hey Mark 'Debussy' Pring:
I like the resolution point at 1:30. Is this your composition? I wouldn't call it crap.

Speaking of Debussy, somebody needs to record La cathédrale engloutie with Mellotron. It probably wouldn't take much to talk Mike into it.

Are you up to your eyeballs in water Martin, or is that north of you?
Tomita's LP was my first exposure to Debussy. I can see the cathedral coming out of the water every time I hear it. I think that an up to date recording of it with orchestral percussion and gobs of mellotron wind voices would be a nice little project for someone.

A lot more fun than painting the bedrooms.

Luckily it's north of us. They say it's a once in a thousand year occurence. Devastating and alarming.

Thanks Clay, you are too kind. It is one of mine, an exercise in harmonic composition, my music theory is not too good but it starts in c minor and ends in G.

I have just bought a USB interface to replace using the microphone input on my laptop to record from the mixer. The flute part was a very free improvisation. I used Audacity to do the recording.

I am really happy with how #1565 is playing and sounding, it's great to be using it rather than working on it!

Mark

PS For some reason if the laptop was powered from the same electrical adapter as the tron and mixer all I got was a horrible humming interference sound. Worked fine on battery took me a while to work that out.

OK Fritz. I'll do it. I'll commit to finish it by the end of the year. I hope that Mike is interested in adding a track or two of Russian Choir. I have the Boy's Choir but 'Cathedral' needs a choir with testicles!

Yeah, Tomita's impression of "Cathedral" really impressed me when I was a teen. It deserves heavy 'tron treatment.
Umm... Based on the ethereal sounds we get from our 'trons, would that make those voices "celestial" testicles?

I admit that the piece doesn't actually rock my world. Maybe a few more listens are required.

I, as well, was hugely impressed (blown away actually) when I first heard Tomita’s Cathedral. As a young aspiring musician heavily into Mellotron and Moog’s, this recording was a dream come true. As an extra added bonus, the introduction to Claude Debussy’s music has proved to have been very influential to me through my life. I doubt that I would have paid much attention to it were it not for the way Tomita used the Mellotron (and synths) to illuminate that great music.
