Finally, after messing with a few different paint types, I settled on epoxy. I believe the cabinet will repel a stone strike at 60 miles per hour. The paint is really hard. I finished it today and I think I'll be using this stuff from now on. It's shiny but it looks great. Using automotive paint on wood is a bitch, but the end result is pretty good. Before my buddy and I painted it, I re-veneered the edges and the front. So I'll give it two days to harden and start final assembly on Saturday.
Frank
This is the back panel that will go on it. I test fit it on Lazarus (#600), which is in the shop for a few upgrades. I will use similar material over the hole in the side. We'll preserve the Unicorn panel for posterity.
Just a reminder of how it used to look. The cheek blocks were missing so I made it a new set.

I am installing casters to the bottoms of the feet and a bumper hitch to the back so that I don't have to lift it into the truck any more.

No, don't think so. We have epoxy. It's the paint used in bathrooms and kitchens for the furniture as it resists most everything and has a pleasing satin finish.

I thought that this is what Martin meant. He said Acid Cat. I went down and looked on the back of the M4000 and sure enough, there it was. Ya see, a cat that was on acid dipped his can in acid and then painted a picture of him... That is soooo cool man...

This brought to mind something I heard many years ago (which has nothing to do with 'trons, but everything to do with cats):

How do you make a cat sound like a dog?
Dip it in kerosene, then throw a match at it - WOOF!!

Along the same line:

How do you make a dog sound like a cat?
Stick it in the freezer for a month, then run it through a band-saw - MEEEEOOOOOOWWWWWWWW!!!!!

I'm told that no actual animals were harmed in the making of these jokes.
