Another 16 minute blast from the late night radio past. My opinion...Uriah Heep's first and last interesting recording.

RE: [newmellotrongroup] UH Salisbury -Wizard

2009-08-17 by Bruce Daily

Wow, I completely forgot about UH! "Demons and Wizards", a great album from my teen years. Reminds me of the time I walked into the JC Penny record section and found Uriah Heep under "H", and Pink Floyd & Jethro Tull under the same corresponding wrong sections. Ah, memories...

I always enjoyed Heep's use of 'tron on the 1st two albums. The 'tron on 'Very 'eavy Very 'umble' (Come away Melinda, Wake up, Bird of Prey (N.American version especially)has a very MKII-ish sound to me , but since there is 'tron cello, I assume it is a very early m400 (recorded in early 1970).

On the recording, bassist Mark Clarke (who co-wrote the song), sings all the high notes as his range was better than David Byron's....

Then he was fired...
