We know about it but circumstances mean that neither JB or myself will be there. Should be a good do though.
Best,

One bloke that is going is Andy Thompson, (curator of
www,planetmellotron.com), which is fair enough, as he's in the book! He
says he's going there with 2 Mellotrons. One of them is his own M400,
but I dunno what the other one is - he's being rather coy about that.

Not being coy at all - Nick didn't ask. :-) My mate Gary and I will be
there with my M400 and one of his. If we're really lucky, several musicians
will play one who haven't done so in a very long time. Or not. Since both
machines are in good mechanical order, we hope to prove that they aren't all
badly-maintained pieces of crap. :-)

p.s. All welcome.

So, failing that, what's Plan B?

Jot down the resulting anecdotes from disgruntled ex-users and add them to my site. :-)

Any reports on this ? Pictures maybe ?

Especially would like to hear about Martin Orford's contribution.

Sorry to take so long to reply to this...

It went well, although it would've been nice if a few more people had
actually played something! We took two 'Trons (mine and my mate Gary's) and
my MiniMoog and Rhodes. Plenty of interviewees, most with something
interesting to say, the evening's big surprise being an unexpected
appearance by Tony Clarke, who made an amusing interviewee. Those who
played:

Dave Cousins/Robert Kirby played New World ('Tron brass and mixed strings)
and Grace Darling (choir), with Kirby only getting used to the keyboard
action by the second song - he freely admitted he hasn't played one in over
30 years...
Martin Orford played the intro to The Last Human Gateway on 'Tron flutes,
then the closing section on Rhodes. He said both the 'Trons knocked spots
off his old one!
Robert Webb (England) played a bit of Poisoned Youth on brass and MiniMoog
bass.

Other interviewees:

Tony Clarke, David Cross, Nick Magnus, Jakko Jakszyk. Mel Collins attended
but refused to be interviewed, and Woolly was nowhere to be seen, even
though it's a short bus-ride from his gaff. Keep an eye on Nick Awde's
website - report apparently forthcoming.

Thanks for the update, Andy !

Maybe the experience will change his rather negative attitude towards
trons positively. I was surprised to see him announced on the bill.
