Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh!

More fun'n'games

2008-05-07 by Mark Wallis

Hi folks!

Taking M400 no151 out tonight for a gnarly covers set that tops off my mate's music degree. We're doing various things including Zappa's 'Inca Roads', Jimi's 'Rainy Day' and Gong's 'Master Builder'..

The full rig for tonight is the Mellotron, my D6 Clavinet (first time out last Sunday since rebuild and an absolute belter!) my Wurly 140B, Nord Lead 2 and Hammond L100 (the 'small' one..)
A bit excessive for 45 minutes but why not?

All good. In fact GREAT. ;-)

Love and Scones,

wallis xx

Why does every supplier of sampled tron VIs never take into account that that the damn thing is actually velocity sensitive and at least try to map a few layers?

Do you mean Reason in general or just the tron refill, as Reason itself is quite friendly to anyone with a background in modulars. That aside it is one of the better sounding VI engines out there.

Wow. That's not a confusing interface at all, is it?

I looked at a friend's version of reason....for about 10 mins, then
ditched it.They could hardly make it complex and poorly laid out if they
tried.

About a month ago I downloaded an mp3 example of this
sound, and it was awful. It was supposed to be
violins, but had no attack, and really didn't sound
like a 'tron at all. Lifeless, no soul. A flat
electronic drone(hey, a Minimoog has soul!). If it
originally was from a 'tron, it probably was run thru
too many correction stages.

I've been trying to find some sound samples on the Web, but this is
all I've been able to find:

http://tinyurl.com/4edxb6

That's got to be the sickest sounding MkII Flute I've ever heard.

You are obviously using "sickest" in its original definition, not the
current street (not Streetly) vernacular.

That's doesn't even sound like a flute, never mind a Mellotron.

Dear lord above what do these people think of when they are making this
dreadful shit?

There's no way that started out as a 'tron sound. It sounds more like a
cheezy Lowrey sound than anything else. But speaking of Mellotronish
flutes, how about this new Qwest commercial with the Strawberry-like flute
part, anyone know about that one? Is it the same guy with the
gender-confused friend in his bedroom?
