Hi Mark,
I used the stock reverb (D-Verb) that came with my Protools 7.24 program, and it's okay. But then I was turned on to the Lexicon MPX Native program, & it made a huge world of difference! MUCH cleaner, more variety, infinitely adjustable parameters, etc. Of course, Lexicon has always been the leader in digital reverbs, so it's no surprise... they're the best. But this was only about $100, which is a far cry from their $25,000 studio desktop unit that gave them their reputation 40 years ago.

You MAY not be happy that it doesn't come with specific spring reverb FX... it's really designed to emulate real spaces, from small rooms to cathedrals. But I can tell you from my experience over the last 1 or 2 years with it, is that it does wonders with Mellotrons. It's clean. It DOES require an i-Lok security drive, but if you already have one for your DAW or other software it's no problem to add it on.

Hope this helps.  Good luck!

Thanks Berrington,

Looked ideal until I noticed it needs ilok 2 which will rule it out as far as I am concerned.

Baaa... all the security stuff... it's a blessing & a curse, isn't it?  Buy a program & you still can't use it til you buy the PERMISSION to use it. As they used to say in Merrie Olde... "It sucketh."   Sorry 'bout that part, Mark!  Good luck in your search for the Spring Thing!

Cheers!

I can see why companies do it, but I resent being treated as a criminal and also I am short of usb slots!

I agree... they assume one is pirating their goods. I don't like that either. What's too bad is that there are so many who DO. Man, I haven't done that in days now.  (Just kidding - all my stuff's legit, WITH the dreaded i-Lok 2, & glad of it.  Had a computer weirdity that happened a while back that actually unlinked me from most of my plug-in sound libraries - funny enough, except for M-Tron Pro! - & it's taken working over the phone with Sweetwater, where I bought it, to set things right again.  If I weren't legit, I'd be on my own. NOT worth it for my business.)

Good luck with the hunt, Mark!  Valhalla sounds interesting. I'll check that myself!

Cheers!
B

Still searching for that elusive M300a violin sound, messing about with samples until I get round to fixing my tron. I'm not sure that I wouldn't be disappointed if I ever nailed it. :)
