Epitaph WIP

Hi Guys.

Thought you might be interested in having a listen to my latest creation (Or demolition job depending on your point of view! Lol)

The private Soundcloud link is...

I'll keep it up on SC for  few days before taking it off to resume work on the vocals. But I thought you might be interested in hearing the backing track at least.

Some of the levels still need sorting, but I can't really finalize those until the vocal is on.
The hit points within my version are essentially where they are on the original, and a full list of what I used is contained in the description on the page.

This is my first go at a "Solo" effort, so apart from the drum programming, the rest is down to yours truly!

Goes without saying, that both M400 and M4000d are well loud!

Hope you enjoy it. It's been great fun getting into the 1969 vibe and discovering more about the hidden mysteries of this, my fav KC track.

Cheers.

Beautiful job, Andy ! And the vocal "trailer" is a good sign of things to come when you're finished with the projeKt.

Cheers,

Yes, EZ drummer is brilliant. Great quality, perfect combination of being able to programme the drums into the song, whilst retaining the natural feel of a top notch session drummer. So EZ!

Ahh, the Glory!  Maybe THE best Mellotron piece ever, & you did a great job at capturing the original work, whatever versions of Mellotrons you used.  Look forward to the finished piece!

One of my favourite pieces ever and you haven't mangled it.

I played this live in a cover set a couple of years ago and had to make do with several VST Trons mixed. There are many covers Epitaph these days but this one is definately worthy of a listen. I also reccomend the BBC Radio John Peel show version which I believe is on the Epitaph compilation CD collection.

P.S. An EBow on an electric guitar makes a great emulation of the Tron brass on this track.

Best regards

Tee.

Guys, thanks for the kind words. It's been a joy wading my way through the original arrangement and deciding what would work given that I had no other musicians to call on. After all, I'm no Robert Fripp! So all the lovely Fripp acoustic stuff had to go, and I found myself having to be a bit more inventive in the middle 8 section after the big pitch bend on the high strings, which for some reason is missing from the Steve Wilson remix. Does anyone know if maybe it was played live during the original mixdown session? All I could muster is the standard rhythm guitar fare across the final section. For those interested in these things, I reckon 90% of the string sounds come from the M400 with the top parts coming from the chamberlain voice of t
he 4000d.
Anyway I'm going to ruin it now by singing all over it! Lol

Cheers.

Andy, this is a wonderful arrangement of one of my favorites.  I really like the addition of the Hammond organ!

Cheers,

Cheers.
