M400 Cabinet....

2013-01-26 by Jack Younger

Did somebody say something about having a set of accurate drawings for the M400 cabinet?

Last year the space beneath my studio went up for rent, so I put it to a friend of mine who has a carpentry business (I work for/with him) to set up a shop there.  Long story short, we've settled in and I have a fine carpentry and cabinet shop 13 steps from this computer.  Needless to say, it has been amazingly convenient.  Been chatting with a friend of mine about the possibilities of designing and building a waterfall-style cabinet for my Tron, who's cabinet was beaten senseless by years on the road with the Beatlemania touring company.

Please let me know if there is somebody out there with some clean drawings who's willing to share them.

Thanks!
-Jack

That IS impressive work and detail!

But what I really want is an assortment of HO scale mellotrons hammonds and others.

Actually, anyone ever try to make a model Mellotron, any scale?

Wow, as It went along it got more and more detailed.  I thought, if I built these I could use stuff like this for something at some point.

The author's name is Brady Arnold.  You can find him on facebook, Bandcamp etc.  Just let him know you know me.  He is a pretty super charged individual, wonderful musician/composer...bit of a bon vivant.  He made a slew of records under the name "Vutdevuk"  that a lot of you would love.  Tons of mellotron (fake, but well done) with proggy influences, but tastefully done.

He is also the author of the "Creed shreds" series of videos, which are just hysterical.

I know him... good guy... very interesting. Haven't heard from him in a long time. His renderings of the Tron are great... except for his failure to include the blister on the SMS cap from leakage.

For some reason, he's the first person I thought of when I read the name "Brady". Several years ago, I bought a CD of Mellotron samples from him entitled "1,000,000 MELLOTRON SAMPLES". Unfortunately, there's a lot less than that on the CD.

I guess that's Brady's warped sense of humor.  We've had a great penpal relationship for at least 10 years now.

Hi Jack,
I've uploaded the drawings for everybody to access here;

http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/QKYEUflzRfcJ3hoDdB_aUA_tq9pot5T5Sm7U0FHaYbMxcLtI4lpjBZTFwOAmxl6f5yANdXx9nu--aa2cuzG5MpQIMiaDgkA/TronDrawings.zip

The drawings don't have the measurements for the lid, feet, cheek blocks or control panel block. Oh, and the tape spill box.
Also I realised after the fact the measurements don't take the slight lip on the edges, so take note of that when you put it together!
Good luck :)

What, my pics? These replies to replies to replies get confusing... My M400
model is 16cm (6-1/4") wide, which I make a scale of 1:5.375, which is
probably well off any regular 'standard' :-) Gary's a carpenter by trade
(he's made me some nice flightcases) and has done a good job on his models.
Don't think he's made any in a while, though.
