Social networking got me Troy Donockley and Don Schiff.
I pursued Troy to do the one track, because I wanted real Irish pipes on board, and looking round, his name was always to the top of the pile. Don Sciff, on the other hand, kind of found us. He just found the idea of the album coming together on the Internet fascinating. Butch Thomas the sax player, I've known since his days in Aylesbury my home town. (His parts recorded in Florida)
Doug Scarratt, I've know for many years, and he was looking to do something that was completely different to his Saxon day job. That's it really. It's been a labour of love in many respects, but by and large its been worth it, as far as any artist can be happy, I'm happy.
My only regret is not being single minded enough in my final choice of running order. At the end, I felt it was running too long and wanted to cut a couple of songs. However I was persuaded by others in the project to leave all the songs in, and now I wish I hadn't! I've done the "directors cut" on the version in my car, with a re-arranged running ordrer and the 2 (perfectly good songs) missing and it flows allot better, to these ears.
So there we are, I should have been more of a dictator, which is not my way.
