Never say never again

Never say never again

2012-09-08 by mellotronmadness

I know that I said I wouldn't post any more of my stuff on the list, but Mike said he wasn't going to do any more mellotron pieces.

So from the sublime Mellotron Works II to the ridiculous:

Never say never again

My excuse is it's not a video but an old piece I just put on Soundcloud:

The Black Room ( Ambient Mellotronic )

Can't remember how I did it, can't remember if I've put it up before.  Almost certainly started out as m300a violins on #1565. The chord sequence comes from quite a well known rock classic and there's a clue in the title.

That's it!

Thanks Bruce, I hadn't listened to this for a while and it just popped up on my IPod, I thought "I quite like this", then remembered it was one of mine!

Hi Mark,

You mean that picture with the cat mask? I was wondering what was up with that... I'll put up a picture of my own Mellotron. But if anybody has another nice picture, just send it to me. (We could change it every so often.) Dimensions should be around 1000x250.

Ben

Well I was thinking it couldn't be worse than mine, and it probably isn't, but it's close. :)

:-)

It is banged up from touring. You can see one of the cigarette burn marks on the leftmost key, covered with some white-out. And if the stories are true, Earth&Fire's keyboard player stored it some sort of attic above a chicken farm or something like that. When I got it, it sure smelled that way. It was dirty inside and out. The tapes were still in reasonable shape though. I'm just keeping it running, nothing more. But I really should overhaul the whole thing. On the other hand, it has its charm this way.

Are there any photo's of yours in the group's photo library?

Ben

Re: [newmellotrongroup] Never say never again

2014-09-20 by Mark Pring

No there aren't any photos of mine on the site. It was stored in a warehouse for 10 years before I got it and was full of mouse shit, even after cleaning it still exerts a strange fascination on our cat. The cabinet is out of shape, when I retire I might rebuild it. I don't use it much these days I prefer to use samples either Redtron or M-tron pro. Mine still has a cm10 and I'm too impatient to wait 10 minutes for it to settle down to only being slightly out of tune. :)

cheers

Mark
